Overview

Bakers Hub Online was a new startup idea by Deepa Bhushal, aiming to revolutionize Nepal's bakery industry by creating a platform where customers could order cakes and bakery items from different local bakeries and get them delivered to their homes. As the first online bakery aggregator in Nepal, the challenge was not just to build an e-commerce platform but also to establish brand awareness, build trust, and create a new market category in the country.

Deepa Bhushal approached me with a vision to digitally transform Nepal's bakery market by launching a one-stop online platform for bakery products. The key objectives were to develop a user-friendly e-commerce platform for seamless ordering, create a strong brand identity with a logo, website, and social presence, design a marketing strategy for customer acquisition and engagement, plan and execute festival campaigns to boost brand awareness, and organize Nepal's first-ever bakery event 'Bake Fest Kathmandu' to generate interest and credibility.

The Challenge

  • New Market, No Precedent: Since online bakery aggregation was a new concept in Nepal, there was low consumer trust in ordering cakes online.
  • Brand Awareness: No existing digital presence, requiring a brand-building strategy from scratch.
  • Consumer Behavior & Logistics: Customers were commonly buying cakes directly from bakeries, making it crucial to educate and shift their behavior online.
  • Marketing Budget Management: Need for cost-effective digital marketing and an impactful launch campaign to maximize reach with limited resources.

Our Approach

E-commerce Website & Digital Platform Development:
  • Designed a user-friendly online store with easy navigation, multiple bakery listings, and a seamless checkout process.
Brand Strategy: :
  • Created a unique brand identity, including a logo, brand colors, and messaging to establish credibility and appeal.
Social Media & Digital Presence:
  • Developed a content strategy for Instagram and Facebook, leveraging visually appealing cake designs, customer testimonials, games, rewards, membership promotion and bakery highlights to drive engagement.
Festival Campaigns & Online Promotions:
  • Launched promotional offers during festivals, particularly New Year, Dashain, and Tihar, to encourage customers to try the platform.
Bake Fest Kathmandu 2021 - Nepal's First Bakery Event:
  • Managed the entire marketing and budgeting for Nepal's first bakery event.
  • Secured sponsors and partners, ensuring a well-funded and high-impact event.
  • Designed marketing materials, including the event logo, banners, social media creatives, standees, and VIP invitation cards.
  • Implemented on-ground marketing, ensuring a successful turnout.
Strategic Growth & Subscription Model:
  • Introduced a bakery subscription plan offering monthly benefits, including a free birthday cake, to drive recurring revenue.

Results & Impact

Bake Fest Kathmandu 2021:
  • 200,000+ footfall in the 3-day event (Dec 29-31, 2021).
  • 4,400+ website visits during the event.
  • 150+ orders placed in just 3 days.
  • 40+ customers subscribed to the bakery subscription model.
Boosted Brand Awareness & Digital Presence:
  • Established Bakers Hub Online as Nepal's first online bakery aggregator.
  • Increased social media engagement and organic reach through curated content.
Customer Behavior Shift:
